Next Speaker:  Jennifer Cook, Mary Kay Foundation

Jennifer Cook has literally spent a lifetime at Mary Kay Inc. She started as a part-time temporary for the vice president of administration, and continued working with the company part-time while earning her B.A. in Education. After graduation, she became a full-time Mary Kay employee in March 1974 and was appointed to the position of executive secretary to Mary Kay. Other positions she has held include Manager of the Mary Kay Support Staff and most recently, Museum Director. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation. She also serves as a permanent member of the Company's Culture Committee, which is committed to preserving the philosophies and principles of Mary Kay Ash.

In 2006 Jennifer was one of five employees recognized for outstanding corporate performance, receiving the Star of Excellence Award for initiating and organizing the MKFK's held in Dallas.

Having been with Mary Kay Inc. since 1971 and working working closely with Mary Kay Ash for over 25 years, Jennifer is totally committed to passing on Mary Kay's values and legacy which are the cornerstone for the success of Mary Kay Inc.

Special Event: Anne Frank Elementary School

Anne Frank 2009

There was a diversity event held at the Anne Frank Elementary School on December 3rd. Tracey Bruce, Neil Hewitt and Robin Moss worked in the cafeteria serving the children American Food (they had around seven countries represented). They had games from around the world in the gym and a fashion show in the auditorium. It was a fabulous experience for those that attended.

Special Event: Holiday Party

Addison Midday Rotary celebrated the holidays at Addison Town Hall on December 6th. We were privileged to have the Commander Long of the ship that "ran" with us last year come speak to us about how much they enjoyed being involved with the run and also about life on a sub (a little confining if you ask me - 500 feet by 66 feet). We also had all the lovely decorations, wonderful food, great friends and fabulous gifts as always. We missed those of you who could not attend.

Raffle:  Every Week!

Show me the money!  We will have a “BIG JACKPOT” raffle drawing every week.  Here are the rules.

-          The drawing will be held every week after the speaker concludes.  Tickets can be bought up to that time.  $1 for 1 ticket, $5 gets 6 tickets.

-          A ticket will be drawn at the end of the meeting.

-          But the weekly winner, will not automatically get the jackpot.  To ensure we have a BIG JACKPOT, we then ask the winner to draw the “winning card” from a standard deck of 52 cards.  If they pull the “winning card”, they get the BIG JACKPOT.

-          How do we determine the “winning card”?  After the jackpot is won, we will draw one card from a standard deck of 52 cards.  That card becomes the “winning card.”  It is reinserted into the deck.

-          If a non-winning card is drawn by the weekly drawing winner, that card is discarded.  This means the odds of drawing the “winning card” will improve every week as the BIG JACKPOT grows.

-          The jackpot is rolled over every week until the “winning card” is drawn.

-          The value of the BIG JACKPOT will be reported in the newsletter.

-       Half of the winning pot goes to the Addison Midday Rotary Foundation.
