Speaker Profile: Dave McSpadden - District Governor
Rotary Club of Waxahachie, TX, USA, Rotary International District 5810 Governor 2009-10
Dave was born and raised in San Angelo, Texas and joined the Rotary Club of Waxahachie in November 1984 with a classification of construction management. He has served his Rotary Club, District 5810 and his local community in many offices. Dave was co-founder and the first chairman of the District's Rotary International Leadership Institute. Dave and Marilyn have shared many wheel chairs distribution trips and a Rotary mission trip for water, scholarship and other projects in Malawi and Zambia to Africa last year.
Dave and Marilyn enjoy their 3 happily married children and 4 grandchildren with another on the way. Dave believes that Rotary International is the best outlet for his purpose on this earth, which is to serve God by serving Mankind. One of his driving inspirations is a quote by Anne Frank who wrote "How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world". Dave is excited to share his passion for Rotary and experiences in Africa with us on Tuesday, August 11th.
Past Speaker Profile: Caresse Bucchan
Caresse Bucchan has been involved with RYLA since she was a camper in District 5810 in 2004. She has returned as an alumni staff member since then. she has just recently graduated with a BS in Psychology and a BA in International Studies from the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana and is a recent recipient of the Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to represent District 4910 in 2010. Caresse has just returned from International RYLA in Rugby, England. These experiences continue to fuel Caresse's passion for the worldwide changes that Rotary continues to make and hopes to one day work intensively for Rotary International with their Youth Programming.
Volunteer Opportunity: Anne Frank Elementary
Thursday, August 20th Anne Frank Elementary needs volunteers to help at their Open House where parents will attend to pick up school supplies. Volunteers will be assisting with crowd control (directing parents to the correct line) and cash collection (for school supplies). I appreciate any time you might be able to commit to this project.
