June 8th: Jack Clasen and Ed Rhinehart, America In Bloom Contest 

Addison has entered the America In Bloom Contest. So we had Jack Clasen speak to us about the contest. He explained how the contest runs and how the judging works. 

He also explained how the contest works for the betterment of the community. The judging is very exacting and the judges do judge everything with a scorecard. They do take into consideration the different climates.

Addison is competing (they say it is not a competition and there is not a winner, but one city will get more points, so...) against four cities in the 15,000 - 20,000 residents. The judges went through the entire town, looking at residential, commercial and governmental properties to see if they meet the criteria (including the light post on Inwood that needs to be painted!).

Since Addison has always beautified the town with flowers it makes perfect sense that they would enter this contest to see if they could win (excuse me, contend, place, do well...) in this contest. Slade Strickland was tasked with taking the judges around Addison and he had help from two of our own, Linda Groce and Al Angell
